In cast copper alloy with fire-gilt and champlevé enamel decoration.  The hexafoil pendant is decorated with three gilded horns on a blue enamel background framed with a red border in a black enamel and gilded frame.

The hunting horn is one of the attributes of St Hubert and the presence of the three on this medallion may be a covert reference to the Holy Trinity. St Hubert, Bishop of Maastricht, was converted to Christianity on Good Friday by the vision of Christ crucified in the antlers of a mystical white stag. Before he turned to Christ, St Hubert was given to all manner of worldly pleasures including hunting and that is why the horn is one of his attributes.
