The pair of dragon heads carved at the top of the arch at either side of the slot for the stirrup leather, is the characteristic feature of stirrups from Mongolia, China and Tibet.

This pair have features closely comparable to a pair in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (no. 2002.220.)
