Private collection, United Kingdom

This very well-preserved blunderbuss is of the plain and practical type which would have been purchased for home defence and for use when travelling. It bears the name Jones on the lock and the town of Wrexham, in Denbighshire, on the barrel. The only gunmaker recorded as having been working in Wrexham at about the time this blunderbuss was made was Thomas Jones, who had business premises at Town Hill between 1810 and 1828. He was also listed as an iron founder and agricultural implement maker.
