The jingasa, or ‘camp hat,’ was a type worn by Japanese warriors when traveling or encamped.

This is a black lacquered wooden war hat of hira-jingasa type, or 'flat-shaped', decorated in slight relief. It bears a gold lacquer crest of karabana type, a Chinese-inspired flower pattern.
