The Arabic inscription within the rich decorative scheme on this axe-head is drawn in Naskh script and reads:

Ya qadi alhajat, or 'Oh Judge [of] Needs.’

The phrase is one of the names from the Al-Asma al-Husna, The Ninety-Nine Beautiful Names of Allah.
